Value:
How close (i.e.: the proximity) in which your keyword appears to the beginning of
a specific area of your page (i.e.: body, title, meta description, etc.).
Background:
Search engines typically place more importance on words that occur towards the top
(or beginning) of a specified text (i.e.: body, title, etc.). Words towards the
bottom of a page will have less prominence and therefore less significance than
words that appear towards the top.
Example #1:
Let’s say your page title contained the following text “Red Yellow Blue Green”.
The word “Red” appears at the beginning of the title, so its keyword prominence
would be 100%. “Yellow” appears further away and therefore has less prominence than
“Red”. “Green” has the least prominence since it appears at the end of the text.
